Mylife has changed so much in the last twenty years. I got a good job as a teacher at Seventh Ave. Elementary school for 6th grade. I went to the college of DuPage do get my degree in teaching. I have a family too. I have two girls named Ginger and Kim and a husband. We also have a dog named Maya in memory of my other dog who died two years ago. And she likes to chew up the furniture. The house we live in is the house I lived in when I was younger and my parents moved out into my mom’dad’s condo and my grandparents went to live in Poland.
Ilearned a lot at school but three things I learned at Gurrie really helped me in my life. I learned to sew and cook and I still have the pants I made in 7th grade. I learned to go greener (as in eco friendly) and now we added solar panels to our roof. I also learned French and Spanish in foreign language class. Now I know a little bit of French and Spanish so if I go to France or Mexico or Spain or Africa I know what people are talking about. And I’m not helplessly confused. One more thing I learned was in science. If we go camping now I know which mushrooms not to eat and not get poisoned and I know what poison ivy looks like and which plant is just a leaf.
The world has changed so much too! Technology is so different now including a new version of a laptop that doesn’t get viruses, is easy to carry around with no cables needed, uses solar energy but that isn’t the only thing it is powered on. There is also a new thing for dogs that if they got lost or hurt you know right away where they are so you can go help them and it’s on the newest version of the iphone. But you have to microchip your dog (which vets agreed to do it for free.) and you put its microchip number in the phone and it’s kind of like a tracking device but it doesn’t harm the dog in any way
I was recently invited to a Gurrie Middle School reunion and I’m excited to attend because I will see my friends. I think most of them might have a job and or a family. I’m excited to see them and I’m wondering whether they will remember me. This is a nerve wrecking moment and I’m kind of excited too. I hope I remember they way to Gurrie because it has been 20 years ever since I went there. And maybe see some of my favorite teachers too.
Well here I go. I’m going to try to find my way to Gurrie and see some teachers that I had before (assuming they’re alive). See my friends and see how they’re doing. I hope SOMEONE remembers me.
